R. Totten, editor of "Totten Genealogy Site", began undergraduate studies at Colorado State University, where he majored in Pre-Veterinarian medicine, studying biology, population genetics, chemistry, biochemistry, zoology, statistics, and physics. At Colorado University (Boulder), undergraduate work was completed, and a Bachelors Degree in Education earned. He then went on to earn his Masters of Divinity, at Denver Seminary (Conservative Baptist), and is currently the pastor of a fundamental evangelical Bible church.

The pastor's wife, C. Totten, graduated from the University of Arizona, in Tucson, having earned her Bachelors degree in Special-Education. She taught in the Denver schools for 8 years, and now schools the youngest of the Totten's two teen children at home, while their son attends an out-of-state University. She is occasionally a speaker at church retreats and Bible Conferences.
